Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
Is World on Time free?
Yes, completely. Every feature is free for everyone. We’re supported by display advertising, not subscriptions.
Do I need to sign up?
No. Every tool — the world clock, converter, calendar, astronomy, weather, holidays — works without an account. Signing in is optional and only useful if you want your saved cities to sync across devices.
Does it work offline?
Yes, for most features. World on Time is a Progressive Web App. Once you’ve visited the site, the world clock, timezone converter, sun & moon calculations, and date calculators continue to work without an internet connection. Weather and holidays need a connection because they pull live data.
How do I install it on my phone?
On Android (Chrome): tap the menu and choose “Install app” or “Add to Home screen.” On iPhone (Safari): tap the share icon and choose “Add to Home Screen.” The app behaves like any native app — full-screen, with its own icon.
How accurate is the time data?
Times are computed from your device’s clock plus the official IANA timezone database. Daylight saving transitions, historical offsets, and UTC offsets all come from IANA — the same source operating systems use. If your device clock is correct, World on Time will be correct.
Why does my city show the wrong time?
Almost always because your device clock is wrong or your device is set to the wrong timezone. Check your phone’s date/time settings (usually it’s set to “automatic”). If you’ve confirmed your device is right and a city still looks wrong, email us — that’s a real bug we’ll fix.
What about my privacy?
Your saved cities live in your browser’s localStorage — never sent to our servers unless you create an account. We use Google Analytics and Google AdSense, both consent-gated (they only load after you accept cookies). See our Privacy Policy for the full breakdown.
Is there an API for developers?
Yes — see /developers. We expose endpoints for current time, timezone information, and holidays. Generous free tier, no API key required for basic use.
Why are the ads on this site?
Display advertising is the only way we cover the cost of running the site for free. We deliberately limit ourselves to one or two ad slots per page, no popups, no autoplay video, and no interstitials. If you’d prefer an ad-free experience, you can use the developer API directly without visiting the website.
Can I embed a clock on my own website?
Yes. We have an embeddable widget at /embed. Pick a city, copy the iframe, paste it into your site.
How do I report a bug or request a feature?
Email hello@worldontime.app. We read every message and respond within a few days.
